Enjoy a friendly music-filled weekend at bucolic Camp Kislak. Concerts and workshops by John Kirk and Trish Miller - Appalachian music, Danny Spooner - singer of Australian and English roots music; Val Mindel -expert singer and musician, and others, plus a camper concert where the applause is for you. Plenty of opportunity for informal jamming and singing, socializing, hiking, swimming (heated outdoor pool), and relaxing.
Folk Music Society of New York, Inc. / New York Pinewoods Folk Music Club, an all volunteer organization, tries to maximize participation in traditional music by running events that are so much fun that no one can resist joining in. The spring music weekend kicks off kicks off with dinner followed by a "Meet the Staff' and "Get to know each other" program on Friday evening. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday are filled with music and dance workshops, crafts, hiking, chats, and lots of opportunities for informal jamming and singing! Afternoons are held open for "Camper Concerts," where the applause is for you! In the evenings there are staff concerts, followed by dancing for all levels. Late-night jamming and singing is encouraged. Or you can simply enjoy the scenery and unwind.
Camp Kislak is approximately three hours from New York City by car, and Short Line bus transportation is available. It's in the heart of the Poconos, southwest of Hancock, NY, in the scenic Delaware River Valley. All rooms are heated and have private baths. There are double rooms and abundant single rooms available. Cost ranges from $250 for 2 days to $320 for all 3 days.
