Spring has arrived along with a new art display at the North Riverside Mall Theatre, which is located at 7501 West Cermak Rd. Throughout the month of April, visitors to the theatre will relish a collection of ceramics, sculptures, photos, paintings and drawings created by Riverside Brookfield High School (RBHS) students, level 9 through 12, who are enrolled in art classes under the instruction of Suzanne Zimmerman. Artwork is on display in the lobby exhibit space for moviegoers to enjoy.
The art students from Riverside Brookfield High School have been working diligently to promote their pieces through different art venues including the school’s online school gallery, RBHS Art Shows and to regional competitions; they are excited to add the North Riverside Mall Theatre to the list. Zimmerman adds, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase our student works at this popular local venue and proud to support the theatre as a celebrated meeting place in the area.”
The exhibit will feature a variety of pieces that are sure to appeal to moviegoers as they move through the lobby area. “The Ceramic Chair Projects” will be among the pieces, which are representations of each artist’s style through color, design, and concept. Other displays include stacked, formed pottery pieces created from assembled wheel thrown vessels and two-dimensional photos, paintings and drawings.
Each month, the North Riverside Mall Theatre provides lobby space to exhibit the works of local artists. Classic Cinemas, based in Downers Grove, Illinois, is a family-owned company operated by Willis, Shirley and Chris Johnson.
