First Salem United Church for Christ is hosting its first ever, "Spiritual Celebration for the Thinking Person: Think. Talk. Believe!" September 24, 25 & 26. The "Spiritual Celebration for the Thinking Person" starts each night at 6:00 p.m. with a Dinner that benefits a local Not for Profit. Our Worship and Entertainment starts at 7:00 p.m. and will focus on a different aspect of the Confessing Christ Movement in the UCC. Guest Speakers will be: Jackie Carter, MCC- First Metropolitan Community Church Wichita, Sam Askew, UCC- Partridge Community Church, Partridge KS and Lowell Michelson, ELCA- Reformation Lutheran Church, Wichita KS. This "United and Uniting" event will help meet the needs of local not-for-profits such as Positive Directions, which helps people who are living with HIV, Open Door Ministries, which helps the hungry of Wichita, and Hunter Health Clinic which provides low cost-no cost Medical and Dental care for the poor and indigent of Wichita. Each night we ask our guests to have dinner, come and check out our Silent Auction and Art show, and bring a canned good item which will go to First Metropolitan Church, Pilgrim Congregational, UCC Wichita, and the Kansas Food Bank. We want this to be an opportunity for sacred conversation and mission, but more than anything FUN! Please find that Bulletin Inserts are attached as well as a Poster.
