700 of the nation's top female gymnasts will compete Feb. 24-26 at West Valley Gymnastics' 3rd Annual Spirit of The Flame Challenge in beautiful downtown San Jose. Gymnasts ranging from Level 4 through Elite will challenge each other on floor, bars, beam and vault for an exciting display of strength, form and flexibility. Pre-Olympic caliber Level 10 and Elite gymnasts are expected to compete in the Friday and Saturday evening sessions.
The event consists of a Friday session starting at 4:30 PM; Saturday sessions starting at 8:00 AM, 12:30 PM and 5:30 PM; and Sunday sessions starting at 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door ($5-$30).
"Join us for a taste of the Olympics in your own backyard," says Abra Slater, West Valley Gymnastics Team Director and co-organizer of the West Valley Spirit of The Flame Challenge. "This event will be a spectacular display of gymnastics prowess from some of our nations' most talented young gymnasts."
West Valley Gymnastics of Campbell, California -- home to Olympian Amy Chow -- is hosting the event. Three gymnasts from West Valley Gymnastics competed on the USA TOPS National Team. West Valley Gymnastics is recognized as one of the nation's best gymnastics centers; the coaches (3 are Olympic) have a history of producing local, state, national and international champions.
