Spiral: Perspectives on an African-American Art Collective February 8, 2011

This exhibition features artwork by members of Spiral, an African-American collective of artists originally formed in response to the Civil Rights movement in the early 1960s. Artists include Romare Bearden, Norman Lewis, Charles Alston, Hale Woodruff, Reginald Gammon, Richard Mayhew, and Emma Amos. Works are drawn from private collectors, galleries, and museums, and the BMA permanent collection.
