A Special, One-Night Only Screening Of "THE MAKING OF PLUS ONE (with Kate, Cate and George - The Story of a Hollywood Nobody")Featuring a Q&A Session and Meet-and-Greet with Cast and Crew
The Making of Plus One (with Kate, Cate and George - The Story of a Hollywood Nobody) packs a punch and pokes more than a little fun at the celebrity obsession fuelling the modern day film industry, full of fads, festival red carpets, creatively incongruous commerciality and artistic dispensability in the far from glamorous reality that is independent feature filmmaking.
This comedic romp shares a look at the behind-the-scenes deal making (and losing) for one group of hopeful (and conniving) filmmakers and is set at the fabulous Cannes Film Festival. Packed with great talent and lots of fun cameos, this will appeal to lovers of indie films, witty satire, and anyone with filmmaking aspirations.
The Making of Plus One follows hopeful director Skye Brown (Suzan Lori Parks) and conniving producer Dave Dallas (Michael Eklund) as they skip through a variety of meetings at the Cannes Film Festival, trying to finance their picture. Each meeting brings a new promise of epic proportions from the filmmakers, which adds to the intricate web of lies they have spun, and the end result is a complicated mess and a hilarious snafu that is all too common in Hollywood – yet end with unexpected results.
Once again, Mary McGuckian adopts her signature collaborative approach to script development; working closely with the cast to develop characters in rehearsal who then improvise the dialogue on set in scenes guided by only a narrative scene-scape.
The film’s stars, including Jennifer Tilly, Amanda Plummer, Donna D’Errico and Claire Fordham, as well as writer/director Mary McGuckian, will be available for a Q&A and meet-and-greet after the movie.
