E-commerce pioneer Terry Jones, founder of Travelocity.com and current chairman of Kayak.com, will offer lessons on “Leadership in a Wired World” at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.
Jones’ presentation, part of the college’s annual Speaker Series, takes place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, in the Samuel P. “Pat” Black III Conference Center, which is located on the first floor of the Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center, 5101 Jordan Road. Admission is free and open to the public, and free parking will be available in the deck directly behind Burke Center.
A former travel agent, Jones led product development, programming and operations for American Airlines’ SABRE, the automated reservation system that eventually spawned Travelocity, the first Web site to give the public the ability to purchase airline tickets without the help of a travel agent or broker. In addition to being a chairman at Kayak, Jones is principal of Essential Ideas, a consulting practice that helps clients use tools and techniques he has developed to keep current with evolving technology in the marketplace.
Of his “Leadership in a Wired World” presentation, Jones said, “It’s a new world out there, one where ‘the office’ is anywhere, communication is constant, and the pace of change is staggering. On top of that, the wired generation is entering the workforce. I’ll offer concise and actionable insight into how leadership is changing in a technology-driven world.”
Jones’ Penn State Behrend Speaker Series presentation is supported by the Sam and Irene Black School of Business, the Student Activity Fee, the Division of Student Affairs and the Harriet Behrend Ninow Memorial Lecture Series Fund
