The heart of the Jukes has always been the vocals of 'Southside' Johnny Lyon who also plays harmonica on many songs. The late '70s saw the Jukes grow in stature from a highly competent R&B-styled bar band into a competitive horn-driven mainstream rock band with a series of original albums to its credit.
Inspired by everyone from Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and Gladys Knight to Toots & The Maytals to the great Bob Marley, Brooklynite Winston Irie shows off his vocal range, amazing improvisational abilities and dead-on talent for adapting to different musical styles when he freestyles.
