Through the combination of hard-driving, soulful originals and a unique, high-lonesome treatment of genre standards, Southpaw’s live shows strike an energetic, crowd-pleasing balance that emotes equal parts love and pain. While David Fleming (guitar), Steve Hoiberg (banjo) and Chris Hunke (bass) lay down the group’s vibrant rhythmic foundation, Josh Krohn (fiddle) and Justin Kephart (Mandolin) lend well-timed, tasteful melodic runs and fills to lend both accent and musical flavor. Fleming’s Primitive Baptist lead vocals and the brotherly harmonies of Krohn and Kephart complete the sound, which, because of its occasional divergent qualities, has become known as ‘Nebraskagrass.’

Touring and appearances on regional and national radio broadcasts such as River City Folk have brought ‘Nebraskagrass’ to a wider audience, but inspiration remains firmly planted in the open prairies and small towns of the band’s home state.
