Local historian Bryan S. Bush will be delivering a lecture on the Southern Exposition at the Conrad-Caldwell House in Old Louisville on August 17 at 2:00 PM as part of the monthly meeting of the Louisville Historical League. It's generally open only to league members, but anyone wanting to attend can join the league at the meeting for just $20.
The Southern Exposition, a kind of World's Fair, took place on the grounds of what is now St. James Court from 1883 to 1887. President Chester A. Arthur opened the exposition, and the first large exhibit of Thomas Edison's incandescent light bulbs took place there.
