The Birth of the Modern Internet - a Personal Recollection: Steven Gold, started programming mainframes in 1969, first at Lawrence Tech and later at WSU (yes, he predates personal computers). He left WSU in 1985 to take a position at University of Michigan's (UM) UMnet/Merit networking group,and in 1996 became part of the team which built NSFnet -- the backbone which morphed into the modern Internet. He will speak about his personal experience being one
of the early builders of the Internet.
