Opening reception: Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 5:30-7:30pm Typically, once every two years, the Museum hosts the ever-popular South Carolina Watermedia Society’s traveling exhibition which features the top 30 award winning paintings from the SCWS’s Annual Exhibition. In 2008, the Museum is most pleased to host the 31st Annual Exhibition with approximately 70 watermedia works (watercolor, gouache, acrylic, casein and mixed media) gracing the galleries. The only statewide visual arts organization on South Carolina, the Society nurtures and promotes the state’s watermedia artists by providing exhibition opportunities, workshops and other educational programs. In 2008 the juror and workshop instructor will be Mark Mehaffey, a signature member of the National Watercolor and American Watercolor societies. In addition to selecting works for the exhibition and awarding prizes, Mehaffey will offer a critique of the paintings, which will be shown on DVD throughout the exhibit’s run. In addition, lectures and demonstration programs will take place at the Museum during the two months of the exhibit.
