Soundstreams Canada Presents Salon 21 April 29, 2009

Salon 21 is a lively and engaging Soundstreams' event series promoting extraordinary music and equally extraordinary musical collaborations!

Join us this April 29th (for our next Salon 21 event) as we present two of the star performers of The Children's Crusade—a new opera by R. Murray Shafer debuting this June 5th as a co-commission between Soundstreams and Luminato.

Jacob Abrahamse is the AMAZING twelve-year-old male soprano taking on the role of the Holy Child. Thoughtful, articulate, and INCREDIBLY talented, meeting Jacob is an experience you will not soon forget.

Maryem Tollar is a Canadian music dynamo. Her latest album Cairo to Toronto was nominated for a 2009 Juno, and her haunting, exquisite vocals have been featured in film, television, and award-winning collaborations of every description. This extraordinary singer/songwriter/musician will play the role of Ariana in The Children's Crusade.

Jacob and Maryem will discuss their respective experiences working on this extraordinary production and will treat you to a couple of pieces from the score.

Chris Lorway, VP of Programming for Luminato, will be in attendance to moderate this incredible evening.
