For Kahn, sound functions as a means of exploring the environment in which his work is viewed. He uses the acoustics, light, and spatial characteristics of the installation site to create aural sculptures.

Kahn will show three/four works...

* Gläser (2005):
==============
Gläser is an eight-channel audio installation for sixteen water glasses and Piezo loudspeakers.
A loudspeaker is placed in each glass; these emit sine waves corresponding to the frequency of each glass at irregular intervals. The waves cause the glasses to vibrate and, in Kahn’s words, add “each glass’s unique resonance to the resonance of the space”.

* In Sand (2006):

Kahn places grains of sand and gravel in 24 loudspeakers arranged about the exhibition space, all of which emit low frequency sine waves inaudible to the human ear. These waves cause the sand to move, which results in soft, intermittent murmurs—the sound of sand.

Kahn has also developed a work designed specifically for the Townhouse,

* The Townhouse Gallery Staircase (2006):

Sounds designed by the artist especially for the staircase play along the length of the stairwell, which therefore becomes no longer just a neglected set of stairs, but an extension of the exhibition space.
