One of only a handful of appearances planned for his first ever tour outside of his native Sierra Leone, Sorie Kondi performs his culture's music oozing with soul. Born blind in the late sixties and abandoned during the 1999 rebel forces invasion of Freetown during the ongoing civil war, this self-taught musical genius of West Africa sings in three of his country's languages and plays a thumb piano-like instrument that he hand made from scrap materials. His extraordinary vocal range is the perfect melodic complement to the riveting rhythms he creates with just two thumbs on his "kondi". Tickets are free with a Tufts ID card (limit two per ID) and $10 for general admission. Call 617.627.3679 for tickets.
