We heard a rumour the other day that The Legion might be closing. Not sure if this is true or not, but it adds some gravitas to our stage at the superb Stag & Dagger festival this year.
That's because we've only gone and got THE RADIO DEPT to headline. They played the first ever Sonic Cathedral way back in 2004 (hell, they were the reason we started Sonic Cathedral) and we're so excited to have them back for a third (and possibly final) time at The Legion. Their new album 'Clinging To A Scheme' is out now. It's lovely; a masterpiece of melancholia. Buy it.
We've also got the wondrous NORTH ATLANTIC OSCILLATION, whose debut album 'Grappling Hooks' is one of this year's finest. Hopefully their set won't end quite as suddenly as their last one at Sonic Cathedral when the power was cut by a meathead in an orange vest.
Then we've got two of our own Sonic Cathedral signed bands: YETI LANE hopefully need no introduction by now. Ex-members of Cyann & Ben form kraut-pop trio, release one of the albums of the year, shrink to a duo and release a new EP on May 24 that will blow your minds. We love them and so should you. Last but not least we have TEAM GHOST, the new band formed by M83 co-founder Nicolas Fromageau. They released their debut EP 'You Never Did Anything Wrong To Me' last month and it's perfection on 10 inches of vinyl: ambient soundscapes, New Order synths, Neu! noise... Mmmm.
If all that wasn't enough we will be gracing the decks along with none other than German electronica genius ULRICH SCHNAUSS!
The whole thing goes on until 2am. We will post the running order and times nearer the day. In the meantime click on the following link to get your ticket, which also entitles you to get in to all the other Stag & Dagger venues. There's so much good stuff on there's no space to mention it here. The word bargain comes to mind.
