ABOUT RITA CAMPBELL

Rita began touring and writing with her first band at the age of 15, which soon led to a full time career as songwriter and session singer. She has worked in all genres from Pop, Dance, R&B, Drum & Bass and Rock.

Rita has worked and written with a diverse range of artists including Steps (for whom she wrote the UK Number 1 hit ‘Stomp’), Westlife, Toploader, Paul Weller, Jools Holland, Michael McDonald, Cher Lloyd, The Brand New Heavies, Rebecca Ferguson, StoneBridge, Russell Watson, Avalon Superstar, Bonnie Tyler, Adam F and Lemon Jelly.

She has also written TV ads, library music and BBC Children’s TV Themes and taught at the London Music School for 3 years.

Rita has written and been the featured vocalist on many dance house tracks over the past 10 years (HedKandi, Ministry of Sound, J Majik&Wickaman, Azulietc) and tours all over the world performing her club hits as well as touring with The Brand New Heavies as a session singer.

When not touring and performing live, Rita is a very busy session singer and topline writer working from her studio in London and is currently about to start the vocal recording sessions for the latest X Factor series (this is her 3rd series and she has worked on the US version in 2011).

Rita sits on the Songwriters Executive Committee for BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composers & Authors) and part of her role on the board this year will be to create and establish new writing camps, enabling new and established writers opportunity to collaborate and form new partnerships.
