The Song Doctor Workshop Session with Jon Batson
will be held
March 16th
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
and each third Sunday thereafter.

There is no charge for this event.

Participants should...

Bring their instrument

At least one song (if you want to critique your song)

10 lyric sheets.

Want feedback on their songs

Be willing to be give usefull feedback to others in a positive way.

It's OK just to come and listen.

Feedback will be of a positive nature, something you can use to better the song

*Song Doctor Critique Session: 6-7pm. Bring one song either on tape, CD
or live (bring own guitar or keyboard) and 10 copies of your typed lyric
sheet with contact details clearly displayed.

*Industry Discussion 7-8 pm
moderated by Jon Batson, author of the Songwriter's Hook Book, an
annotated journal for songwriters.

Topic: Writing Formula
45 Year veteran performing songwriter Jon Batson, by popular demand,
will cover writing with a formula.

Which is the Chorus

What is a verse, a bridge, a pre-chorus?

How do they relate?

Why write formula.

After a quick overview of the parts and relationships, we will write a song on the spot. Bring paper and a pencil.

ABOUT JON BATSON
Known for his witty ability to get a point across, ASCAP member Jon Batson has entertained audiences with his songs in the US, Europe and China.

In his hometown of Washington, DC, he has sung before the Kennedy family, performed at the prestigious Arts Club of Washington and was televised nation-wide from the National Cathedral.

His musical travels have taken him to Spain, Portugal and China, where he performed before the Vice-Premier sharing the stage with renown Jazz musician Chick Corea and film composer Peter Schless, and did a special performance on the Great Wall itself.

In addition to performing live he has a string of album and CD releases; five original stage musicals produced in Hollywood, CA at such prestigious stages as the John Anson Ford Theatre; wrote and recorded the official song for San Jacinto, CA. His specialty material has appeared on such shows as The Tonight Show, Make Me Laugh, Midnight Special and Murder She Wrote.
