Who:
Celeste Cantu, General Manager for Santa Ana Watershed Project Authorities, will speak to the Inland Empire about the current water crisis Southern California residents are facing and effective solutions to help with future water needs.

What:
The two-hour symposium, hosted by the Green Institute for Village Empowerment (GIVE), is free and open to the public and is part of a monthly program to help educate the general public about the state of the Inland Empire and its efforts to improve the quality of life for its residents.

Each month, GIVE is also offering a $500.00 scholarship to those who enter an essay competition and participate at a monthly symposium. Individuals who are interested in this scholarship opportunity, must attend this month’s GIVE symposium or watch the symposium via live Webcast, and will be required to write an essay. The GIVE $500.00 scholarship is open to the public and will be offered on a monthly basis, and topics will be based upon the recent symposium. About General Manager Celeste Cantu
SAWPA’s General Manager, Celeste Cantu, has been making significant contributions in her position. She began her career with SAWPA in December 2006 , bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience through her prior positions as Executive Director of the State Water Resources Control Board in Sacramento, as the Planning Director for the City of Calexico, and through her distinguished career with the U.S Department of Agriculture and the California Assembly. During her tenure with the Water Board she tackled numerous challenges including the growing issue of salinity in water and irrigated land in many parts of the state and the protection of water quality in the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta and Colorado River; which supplies Southern California with a huge part of its water supply.
