Celebrate 50 years of enthralling human exploration of our solar system with a panel of leading NASA scientists. In 1962, the Mariner probe reached Venus, offering an unprecedented view of the planet known as the Evening Star. A half-century later planetary exploration compels us more than ever. Join us for a discussion moderated by NPR‘s Bill Nye, the Science Guy with a distinguished panel including Kevin Hand, a Nat Geo Emerging Explorer and deputy chief scientist for solar system exploration, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, who is searching for water on Jupiter’s moon Europa, Bethany Ehlmann, Assistant Professor, California Institute of Technology, and Jet Propulsion Laboratory research scientist, who analyses Mars’ mineralogy using remote sensing, Margaret Kivelson, professor emeritus, Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at UCLA, who has researched the magnetic signatures of Jupiter’s moons, and Ed Stone, Professor and Director, Space Radiation Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, and former director of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
