October 4, 2011 – Erik Qualman, author of “Socialnomics: How Social Media Transforms the Way We Live and Do Business,” will be the next Speaker Series presenter at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.
Qualman’s talk, “Socialnomics: It’s a People-Driven Economy,” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the Samuel P. “Pat” Black III Conference Center, which is located on the first floor of the Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center. Admission is free and open to the public, and free parking will be available in the deck located behind Burke Center, off Technology Drive.
“Socialnomics” was an Amazon.com best-seller in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Portugal, Italy, China, Korea and Germany, and a finalist for the American Marketing Association’s 2010 Book of the Year award. In it, Qualman contended that we will no longer search for products and services to purchase—instead, they will be pushed our way through social media. In this media environment, he said, it is the organizations that listen first and sell second that will flourish.
Fast Company magazine has included Qualman in its list of Top 100 Digital Influencers; his blog, Socialnomics.net, is one of PC Magazine’s Top 10.
Qualman’s Penn State Behrend presentation is sponsored by the college’s Sam and Irene Black School of Business, the Student Activity Fee, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Harriet Behrend Ninow Memorial Lecture Series Fund.
