Six Feet Up, Inc. (www.sixfeetup.com), a web application development company based in Fortville, has been fortunate to grow from a 3 person start-up in 2003 to a 14 team member organization in 2009.
Now the company would like to give back to their local Community by helping small business owners and entrepreneurs learn how they can grow their business by using social networking tools.
Starting March 10th, Six Feet Up, Inc. will be offering a series of three social networking training sessions. Chief Technology Officer Calvin Hendryx-Parker will be presenting the nuts and bolts of Social Networking tools such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Web 2.0 and Social Networking are the new ways to interact online. If you have never heard of social networking or have been too afraid to try it out, then this event is for you. Social Networking isn’t just for kids. Companies and individuals use social networking applications to create a more personal business presence online. Most social networking tools are also free, giving you the ability to increase advertising while not incurring additional expenses.
Topics to be covered are:
Twitter http://twitter.com/ is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets). Each update is a text-based post of up to 140 characters in length. Users often post and respond to one another with personal recommendations or dislikes.
Linkedin http://www.linkedin.com/ is a business-oriented social networking site mainly used for professional networking. Linkedin is often used as an online resume and, in some cases, has come to replace traditional resumes altogether. Users of Linkedin can also write recommendations of other users or companies in order to act as a reference. As of February 2009, it had more than 35 million registered users, spanning 170 industries.
Facebook http://www.facebook.com/ isn’t just for teenagers and college kids anymore. The Facebook application has become an informal way to promote your business as well. Businesses or products can create a page, track visitors, and place advertisements all within the Facebook framework.
Six Feet Up, Inc. co-founder Calvin Hendryx-Parker has 12 years of experience in fields as diverse as systems engineering, data modeling and information architecture.
