UPDATED: It turns out that the April meeting of Ignite Seattle is on the same night as our conversation this THUR - http://upcoming.org/event/158911/ .
Since there was going to be some overlap, and it is in a different part of town, the good folks at Ignite (Brady and Bre) have offered to share part of their venue for us to host our event (either a part of the restaurant dining room, or an overflow room if it is not in use for their main presentations). While I was really looking forward to hosting this in Seahawks stadium, I am also excited about this change.
This is great because we will get to talk to more people, it gets to the heart of the question I was asking (what is the Seattle Social Media Scene) and shows how groups can collaborate for common purposes.
This gathering has 2 parts, first,we will talk about the Seattle Social Media Scene - what is happening, who is happening and why Seattle is such a great city for Social Media and Technology. If you have a Social Media startup, or are active in some of the existing groups, we would love to hear from you!
The 2nd half of the evening will be spent talking about how we might be able to come together regularly to liven up the scene, learn from each other and discuss important issues of the day. If you have some other ideas for conversation topics or venues for future meetings, please visit the Wiki page for Seattle and add your ideas there. http://socialmediaclub.pbwiki.com/Seattle.
During the time of our conversation (630-8 or so) the Maker Faire group will be meeting. At 830, shortly after we wrap up our conversation, we can join Ignite for their Tech Talk series, meeting other interesting folks, including someone from the World Lexicon project.
At this meeting Seattle locals Chris Pirillo, Mitch Ratcliffe, Randy Stewart and many others will be joined by Social Media Club Co-Founder Chris Heuer. We will start to arrive at 6pm and start the discussion at 630pm. We will be recording this meeting for a podcast.
We hope you are able to make it to the new venue and help us map out the scene and brainstorm some ideas around what we can do to make it even better, connecting Seattle to our bigger global neighborhood...
If you plan on coming, please pre-register at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/53494002.
