A 69-foot-long snake is slithering into the North Museum of Natural History and Science.
The giant replica of a snake's skeleton serves as the backbone of Snakes, Rattles and Holes, a new temporary exhibition at the North Museum opening January 25. As visitors walk through the snake’s body, videos, artifacts, and interactive elements illustrate life from a snake’s point of view, educating and entertaining visitors of all ages.
Starting at the mouth, visitors can climb under 24-inch fangs into the snake's body and follow the same route the snake's prey would follow as it is devoured. Visitors can learn about a snake’s life, covering topics including how snakes hunt, eat, shed, reproduce, and move, as well as their relationship with humans.
The North Museum of Natural History and Science is located at 400 College Avenue in Lancaster. Admission to the Museum is $7.00 for adults, and $6.00 for juniors (ages 3-12) and seniors (65 and over). Planetarium shows are an additional $1.50 to the price of admission. The Museum is free for children under three. For more information, call 717-291-3941 or visit www.northmuseum.org.
