An event to launch the highly anticipated new magazine, Smyles & Fish, with special performances by Jonathan Ames, Arthur Nersesian, Neil Swaab and Mike Topp, as well as a multi-media presentation from the Smyles & Fish web world. Copies of the first Smyles & Fish Pocket Edition will be available. Signing, Q&A, Reception.

With Performances By:

Jonathan Ames- winner of a Guggenheim Fellowship and a former columnist for New York Press, is the author of the novels I Pass Like Night, The Extra Man, and Wake Up, Sir!, and the essay collections What’s Not to Love? My Less Than Secret Life, and I Love You More Than You Know, and is the editor of Sexual Metamorphosis: An Anthology of Transsexual Memoirs. Wake Up, Sir! and The Extra Man are in development as films, with Mr. Ames writing the screenplays. He adapted What’s Not to Love? as a TV pilot for the Showtime network and he played himself. He performs frequently as a storyteller and comedian and has been a recurring guest on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Arthur Nersesian- is a novelist, playwright, and poet. His novels include The Fuck-up, Manhattan Loverboy, dogrun, Chinese Takeout, Suicide Casanova and Unlubricated. He has published a collection of plays, East Village Tetralogy, and has written three books of poems. In 2005, Nersesian received the Anahid Literary Prize for Armenian Literature for his novel Unlubricated. Nersesian was the managing editor of the literary magazine, The Portable Lower East Side.

Neil Swaab- is an artist, designer, and writer, whose weekly comic strip has been collected in two books, Rehabilitating Mr. Wiggles Vol.1 and Attitude Featuring: Neil Swaab, Rehabilitating Mr. Wiggles.

Mike Topp- is a poet and author of Own Your Own and Happy Ending, for which Jonathan Lethem wrote a blurb “even though he doesn’t write blurbs anymore” and is also a Pocket Edition contributor.
