We are honored to have Professor Andy Frank, recognized as the father of modern plug-in hybrids, as our featured speaker. He is credited as being the "Inventor" of the modern day Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and has spent over 30 years in breakthrough vehicle development. He received two world records for vehicle fuel economy, is designer of nine generations of PHEV's, and was four-time winner of the USDOE Advanced Vehicle Design competitions. He is Founder of EDI and will demonstrate the Continuously Variable Transmission and a Chevy Volt.
Professor Frank will speak on the techincal and logistical problems associated with the integration of the Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles and the Battery Electric Vehicles into our society. He will also cover the technology and hardware needed in this transition from fossil fuel energy to solar, wind and other sustainable energy systems as well the engineering aspects of drivetrain controllers, software, high efficiency transmissions, battery modules, and other electric vehicle components.
Mr. Ferchau will present his expectations with regard to what is currently happening in the PHEV and Cleantech Industries in China and Europe, as well as comment on the smart grid. He will aid in demonstrating the lightweight and energy- saving EDI Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), as well as the under the hood tour of a Chevy Volt, which will be on display at the Forum.
Tom Roberts of SMP Tech will be the forum moderator, and as you learn about the possibilities of PHEV's of the future, you will be surrounded by the nostalgia of yesteryear at Sparky's Hot Rod Garage in San Carlos.
A complimentary lunch will be served.
