Plant City Photo Archives & History Center (PCPA) will host an extraordinary Smithsonian exhibition called "Journey Stories".

Journey Stories is a traveling Smithsonian exhibit chronicling America's history, from colonial immigration to westward expansion to the abolition of slavery. The interactive exhibit will allow you to see up close what it took for our ancestors to pack up, say goodbye to loved ones, and reinvent themselves in a new setting. Through photos, audio stories, artifacts, and first-hand accounts from travelers, “Journey Stories” documents these times.

Plant City is the first of six smaller communities in Florida to welcome Journey Stories in 2012. PCPA will host the exhibit for six weeks May 26 through July 7, 2012.

It will be open free to the public, and the museum welcomes field trips, scouts and tour groups. Exhibit hours will be Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The museum is located at 106 South Evers Street, Plant City, FL 33563.

Members of the community are invited to share their own "journey stories", either by pre-recording them, submitting them in written form, or contacting a Photo Archives staff member for an oral interview.
