Miss Saigon Under the Stars
The legendary Miss Saigon is one of the most successful of recent Broadway musicals. This epic love story, inspired by Puccini's Madame Butterfly, has captured the excited attention of audiences around the world. The Ohlone Theatre Department's Miss Saigon is proudly presented outdoors, under the stars at the Smith Center Amphitheatre. For an additional cost, a delicious Asian buffet will be served an hour and a half before the event.
Set in 1975 during the Vietnam War, the story tells of Vietnamese villagers who escape to Saigon for refuge. One of the refugees is 17-year-old Kim, who is forced to work in a bordello in order to survive. She meets Chris, an American GI, and they quickly fall in love. Tragedy unveils during the final days leading up to the American evacuation of Saigon that appears to tear their relationship apart. Audiences will fall in love with this heart-wrenching and passionate story.
