Clams Casino and Neil O'Fortune bring you the third annual presentation of New York’s only burlesque show completely dedicated to the 1990s: Smells Like Tease Spirit! On Thursday, February 5th, Smells Like Tease Spirit! takes the stage at the Slipper Room, 167 Orchard Street at the corner of Stanton Street on the Lower East Side. The show begins at 10:00 PM; admission is just 5 bucks!
Smells Like Tease Spirit! is a tassel-twirling, Macarena-dancing, Hammer pants-wearing celebration of that decade of relative peace and prosperity that came in with grunge and went out with the Backstreet Boys. The show first took the City by storm in the summer of 2006 at the Slipper Room, and in 2008 rocked the stage at Galapagos Art Space in Brooklyn. The third installment of the Tease Spirit trilogy returns to the Slipper Room in 2009 with an all-new show and tremendous new cast of NYC burlesque stars! Co-hosted by Clams Casino and Neil O’Fortune, the show will feature performances that are gonna make you sweat, by Clams, Nasty Canasta, Jonny Porkpie (the two halves of the award-winning Pinchbottom Burlesque) and Sizzle Dizzle! Smells Like Tease Spirit! will travel through some of the 1990s’ greatest touchstones: from Ace of Base to Baywatch, the Spin Doctors to the Humpty Dance to Twin Peaks, and much more! Three years ago, this show might have been premature nostalgia—but 1990 was almost 20 years ago! It’s time to grab a Zima and your Beanie Babies and settle in for a rockin’ night at the Peach Pit After Dark—with more nudity then you remember.
