An exhibition of sketches of travels through India
by Chitra Nandan
Chitra, a self taught artist, hails from a family of painters. She moved out of a successful career when a special experience drew her strongly towards Nature. Thus started her journey with Line and Colors. She lives at the foothills of the Himalayas and is footloose. From the forests of South India to the mountains in the North she has been traveling for a number of years. The places she visits are brought back by her in Lines to be shared with others.
Chitra has exhibited her work in Bangalore in April 1996 (her first show of her paintings), in December 1996 (paintings), in September 1997( group show of paintings with four other women artistes), in April 1999 ( sketches), at Vancouver, Canada in July 1999 ( at a Women's Conference where she was also one of the keynote speakers and conducted a workshop in " Women and Earth – a common struggle for survival") and in New Delhi in March 2007 ( sketches).
