West Town’s vibrant art scene is taking center stage with the launch of Sketch Thursdays – all new festive nights of live art-making. Debuting on Thursday, October 8th at The Architrouve (1433 W. Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60622) from 6 to 9 pm and taking place thereafter at rotating West Town venues every second Thursday of each month, Sketch Thursdays feature local emerging artists sketching or painting throughout the night and offering those works for sale at affordable prices.
Sketch Thursdays are geared towards artists, art enthusiasts and collectors alike. It's the perfect place to start an epic art collection, meet amazing artists, or have a cocktail or two while enjoying artists perform their craft. All artists are welcome to bring their pens, pencils, paper and chalk (sorry no paints allowed) and get creative; however there will be an invited group who has reserved seats each month. All art created on the spot will be posted on the wall and on-sale until close.
Organized monthly by the West Town Chicago Chamber of Commerce, the first installment of Sketch Thursdays at The Architrouve will be hosted by curators Bob and Darci O’Connell, and will feature the artists behind the prominent new Chicago Avenue murals. The overall premise of the murals is West Town, depicted by two phases: the first focusing on history, food, businesses, scenery, etc; and the second focusing on a green theme. The invited artist panel at Sketch Thursday, October 8th includes:
• Joshua Binder
• Augustina Droze
• Anne Farley Gaines
• Stephan Giannini
• Layne Jackson
• Sarah Lawshe
• Michelle Scott
• Plamen Yordanov
Admission to Sketch Thursdays is FREE, however attendees must be 21 and over.
