Directing a sketch show involves many different elements - from casting to running order to technical factors to script rewrites. This workshop will guide you on how to draw the best performances from your cast and will walk you through all the factors you need to put together a sketch show that rocks.

MIKE HUGHES is the director and co-executive producer of iO West's award-winning news-based sketch comedy show Top Story! Weekly. He has directed over 100 sketch shows at iO West over the past three years and has also directed shows at such other venues as UCB and the Westside Comedy Theater. Mike has studied acting with Uta Hagen and Howard Fine and has worked in sketch shows with such talent as Simon Helberg ("Big Bang Theory") and Masi Oka ("Heroes"). Mike can also be seen having the most fun he's ever had improvising when performing at iO West with Those Who Oppose Us Will Stand Knee Deep in the Blood of Their Children.
