Thousands of women seafood workers in the Baja maquiladora industry endure 12 hour night shifts of cleaning squid to earn 2 U.S. cents a pound. These workers and their supporters formed El Sindicato Independiente de Trabajadores y Trabajadoras de la Industria Maquila (SITTIMthe Independent Union of Workers in the Maquiladora Industry), the only independent union in Baja California. Join us as these courageous women leaders from SITTIM kick off their San Francisco speaking tour giving testimony to the dire working conditions they are fighting to change!
