Join us for a showing of the documentary Sir! No Sir! with special guest Randy Rowland. Sir! No Sir! profiles the GI movement against the Vietnam War, the most vibrant, widespread upheavals of the 1960s. Although they had a profound impact on American society, they have been virtually obliterated from the collective memory of that time. A discussion of Coffeehouse movements will follow the film. Coffee Strong Director Seth Manzel will discuss the Stop Stop-Loss Campaign, to organize against extended tours, and how you can help nationalize this growing movement. The Power of Ten fundraiser will also be introduced. DONATIONS accepted at the door; no one is turned away.
Randy Rowland is the director of Pepperspray Productions, an independent video activist collective in Seattle. Rowland was a GI resister and a member of the Presidio 27, one of the first acts of resistance to the Vietnam War. He staffed a Tacoma GI Underground newspaper in the 1970's.
Coffee Strong is a GI coffeehouse and internet cafe in Lakewood owned and operated by GI Voice, an organization of recent vets and civilian supporters. They provide resources for service members, their families, and veterans facing service-related issues, such as deployment, PTSD, sexual assault, and command grievances.
