Tonight join us at Ceiba:
"With “wonderful” South and Central American–inspired dishes “bursting with complex flavors” and presented in “beautiful” Downtown digs, this “happening” Nuevo Latino is as “great for an anyday meal” as a “business lunch” or a “special occasion”; so start with a “mean caipirinha”, move onto the “must-have” ceviche sampler, then get an “amazing” crispy whole fish before enjoying the “best part” – complimentary “caramel popcorn brought with the bill.”" - Zagat.com
"Ceiba, part of Jeff Tunks' restaurant portfolio (DC Coast and TenPenh), is a Latino dreamwork with a far-fetched menu and an oddly un-dramatic setting. The décor looks like a cross between a British gentleman's club and a tropical bar dotted with fan palms. Mirrors in the entranceway expand the space, giving the impression that Ceiba extends on into infinity when in reality it includes two distinct dining areas. Or was that three? Cocktails are lavishly Latino and star rums and tequilas in soured concoctions. As for eats, ceviche plays big here, with a medley of four selections to enjoy solo or as a sampling. But other appetizers may hold more appeal: The shredded duck confit empanadas and the pork short ribs chicharrones offer earthy appeal. You can also dig into a capacious crock of steamed mussels seasoned with beer, chorizo and a mild dollop of chipotle chiles. The main game plan is strongly seafood, but many are tempted by the braised pork shank served feijoada-style. This may be one to miss for we found it, despite its size, short on meat, which was definitely undercooked and hard to wrench from the bone. Desserts may be the real winners here with a traditional flan that's silken and caramel and a chocolate Cuban coffee cake that is the essence of chocolate." - Gayot.com
