This week join us at Gaslight Brasserie du Coin
"“Succulent” French brasserie cuisine comes for “surprisingly decent prices” – considering the “swanky” South End location – at this “hip, fresh” Aquitaine sibling whose “classic”, “elegant” decor looks imported from the “Left Bank”; “friendly, knowledgeable” staffers tend to the “lively” “hordes of young professionals” who truly appreciate that the “solid” wine carte offers both “great high- and low-end” selections; P.S. “gotta love the free parking!”" - Zagat.com
"Full-to-bursting with brasseries as Boston is these days, it has nonetheless managed to squeeze one more in---and South Enders couldn’t be more jazzed. After all, they’ve long been loyal to Aquitaine for its loyalty, in turn, to French bistro tradition; now they’re trusting this sibling of Aquitaine with a clean translation of the brasserie experience. That trust is proving well-founded. Gaslight has got the goods: an interior design that evokes Art Deco-era Paris; raucous energy emanating from the zinc bar and the communal table; lengthy hours of operation that make it an option for afternoon shoppers and midnight haunt-hoppers as well as prime-time diners. Not that any of that would matter if it didn’t also have the right culinary stuff---but it does. Of course, by “right” we don’t mean “awe-inspiring”; to the contrary, we’re referring to an earnest approximation of brasserie fare---simple, ample, affordable. There are croque monsieurs and pissaladières; there’s coq au vin and cassoulet; and there are frites, frites everywhere---with steak, roast chicken, mussels. Admittedly, we’ve noticed that the more calories we’re willing to spend, the more wowed we are with our purchase; wienerschnitzel with blue cheese sauce is a case in point." - Gayot.com
