New Mexico Women’s Chorus will present “Singing From the Heart-Women of Folk and Country,” featuring music of female composers and performers of country and folk music. Among the women of country and folk honored in the NMWC spring concert are Judy Collins, the Judds, Cris Williamson, Dolly Parton, Tracy Chapman, Janis Ian, Tanya Tucker, and Joan Armatrading. The audience will be treated to familiar tunes like “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “Jolene,” and “Big Yellow Taxi” as well as lesser known, but equally engaging songs.
“Singing From the Heart-Women of Folk and Country” will be performed in Santa Fe June 4 at 7 pm at Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 107 W. Barcelona Rd, and in Albuquerque at 7 pm on June 18 at First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque, 3701 Carlisle NE. The concerts will be interpreted for the hearing impaired. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and $8 for seniors, students, and children. Tickets can be purchased at Red Wing Shoes, 3401 Central in Albuquerque, at Café Ole, 2411 Cerrillos Rd. in Santa Fe, from a chorus member or online at the chorus website, nmwomenschorus.org.
