Tonight's feature act is Francis Doughty, an instrumental acoustic guitarist who lists John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Peter Lang, Ed Gerhard and James Taylor among his primary influences. His two recordings to date, “Under the Sky” and “Among Trees” are collections of meditative guitar pieces with nature-oriented themes. Boston’s NPR affiliate WBUR 90.9 fm says “Francis Doughty paints pictures of New England with his guitar.” This is a don’t miss show for all of us finger-style guitar players! Visit www.timberheadmusic.com/francisdoughty for more information. Francis is represented by Timberhead Music in Maine, which also represents iconic New England songwriters Gordon Bok and Cindy Kallet and rootsy trio The Wiyos.
Open Mike starts at 8:00 pm, but you hafta listen to me play a couple first. Open mikers get two songs apiece and it's rare that we run out of time. Feature act plays from 9:30 until 10:15. I pass the hat and request $3 from everyone. All proceeds go to the feature act. At 10:15 the open mike resumes and runs until 12:45 am closing.
