Singapore Arts Festival 2011: As It Fades 从消逝出发 - 破碎与扭曲 May 21, 2011

Choreographer Kuik Swee Boon of T.H.E Dance Company continues his exploration of the body and the search for a sense of uniqueness in identity and the environment through ‘dancing the body’.

As It Fades aims to capture the ‘in-between states’ and the dynamics of ‘fading and beginning’ in the contemporary environment; the transitional points between two extremes – fear, love, anxiety, expectations, nostalgia, unwillingness to let go: all the emotions humans experience when they go through a state of transition.

Through a workshop process Kuik has been focusing on getting dancers to initiate movement from their subconscious in order to draw out unique elements that make them stand out as individuals. In doing so they find and express the spirit of what they stand for as a dance company and also for this work itself.
