Mount Gilead, North Carolina 27306

The Mount Gilead Community Choir will present its fifteenth annual Christmas concert Sunday, December 6. The program, entitled "Sing Out the News!", will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church.

The choir has built a program around the "good news" of the season, drawing a concert title from the Don Besig-Nancy Price composition of the same name, which will serve as the opening number. Other selections include Mark Hayes' beautiful setting of "Tender Rose of God" a set of songs based on the Spirituals "Oh, What a Wonderful Child", "Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head" and "Behold the Star". The audience will have an opportunity to join in the singing of some familiar carols before the closing arrangement of the traditional "Go, Tell It", combined with the 1960s composition "Tell the Good News". Some solo, duet and instrumental pieces will also be featured. More than 20 local singers are involved in this year's community choir.

Directed by Johnny Almond, accompanied by Leah Barton, Donna Greene-Burleson, Tip Harris and Liz LaRosa.

Admission to the concert is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable item to contribute to the Mount Gilead Food Pantry.

The choir is sponsored by the Mount Gilead Community Concerts Association (MGCCA), whose mission is to bring quality, diverse live entertainment to the area and to expand arts education opportunities for local students. MGCCA also presents a local concert series and operates Community Radio 88.1 FM WMTG in Mount Gilead. More information is available at http://www.mgcca.com or (910) 975-3256.
