Academy Award winning actress Halle Berry honors those ?compassionate champions? who have worked to eradicate domestic violence from the lives of women and children as the Year of Giving Campaign Chairperson for Jenesse Center, Inc. The Center will recognize these individuals at its annual Silver Rose Awards & Auction.
The thrilling event will be held October 9 at the Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. Actor William Allen Young and KTLA-Channel 5 morning reporter Gail Anderson will act as Masters of Ceremonies. NBC-Channel 4 co-anchor Chris Schauble will also be on hand.
The Center will be commemorating twenty-five years of providing life-sustaining services to women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Playwright and actor Nelsan Narie Ellis, famed Hollywood publicist and humanitarian Karen Samfilippo, and the Black?s Women Network will be honored for their courageous work on behalf of women and children who are victims of domestic violence.
The fundraiser, which will coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, is part of Jenesse Center?s ongoing Year of Giving Campaign to raise $2.5 million, chaired by Berry. In addition to a silent auction, there will be an opportunity drawing for a one of a kind 2001 Mercedes Benz SLK. The custom painted vehicle was painted by award winning Hollywood artist Ron Pastucha and features scenes from many cinema classics. There will also be a special presentation for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina.
