Teenagers and young adults may have been decades away from being born, but the wonder of the silent film when accompanied by an organ awaits both film and music enthusiasts when the Fox Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists showcases the classic 1927 silent movie hit “College” on Monday, June 15, 2009, at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave in downtown Downers Grove.
Making the night even more special is that organist Dennis Scott will be accompanying the film on the theatre’s historic Wurlitzer pipe organ. The exciting night is part of the Pipe Organ Encounter (POE) that is a series of events organized to introduce teenagers and young adults to the world of pipe organs.
Doors to the Tivoli Theatre open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 per person, and $5 for students and senior citizens. Families can enjoy the show at a $25 fixed rate.
