Native Americans used the Sierra Grande Mineral Springs as a neutral healing ground after battles referring to them with reverence as ‘Grandmother’ because of the soothing and beneficial properties of the waters. UNM Continuing Education is offering a trip to the Sierra Grande Mineral Baths on Saturday, beginning at 10am on August 15 through August 16 at 6pm. For $210 you will experience the unique geothermal hot springs, that for centuries have been an important place of healing and gathering. The spa’s multiple private pools rise at temperatures as high as 107° Fahrenheit and have a particularly beneficial (and odorless) combination of over 35 minerals, each offering a specific healing property. Fee includes overnight stay, a bath for each day, and travel. Extras may be purchased. For more information visit dce.unm.edu/story-of-new-mexico or call 277-0563.
