You can attach many handles to the music of Shurman -- country rock, cowpunk, rock 'n' roll, alt-country, Americana -- but none of them really nails the band's sound. The hard-touring Los Angeles quartet has opened for such diverse acts as Blues Traveler, Ziggy Marley, Cross Canadian Ragweed, the Jayhawks, the Drive-By Truckers, Los Lonely Boys and Sammy Hagar. Obviously, they've forged a sound that refuses to be pigeonholed.
