We don't want your stinkin' money.
It's a show and an after-party with free music, food, and booze, and you can leave your wallet at home. Come to the show at 8, get your drink on and chomp some vittles immediately afterward.
On Saturday May 16, Will Act For Food is all giddy to bring you Cans For Cash, the only magical combination of a night of theater and a night of debauchery where you can pay completely in food.
The event's admission price is $30, HOWEVER, you can substitute each and every one of those dollars for a can of beans or box of mac & cheese: One item counts as one dollar.
-Got ten cans of tuna? You owe us $20.
-Bring in two cans of soup, one box of chicken helper, and twelve new jars of peanut butter? You pay only $5.
-Is that thirty cans of delicious Hormelâ„¢ Chili I see, buddy? Come on in, and start having fun, you're all paid up.
See, we know times are tough. But times are even tougher for some other people, so we're donating all the food we collect to Lakeview Pantry, who distributes it to Chicago families in need.
Cans for Cash only happens one night during the whole run of the production, so hustle on over to http://www.willactforfood.com/cansforcash/ to make your reservation. Do it. Now.
So what's the show?
Len Jenkin's "American Notes" is a slightly twisted glimpse into the lives of average, everyday people... who turn out to not be so average after all.
Part intertwined character sketchbook, part postcard collection, and held together by desperation and coffee-fueled late-night conversation; "American Notes" is a surreal journey into the American Myth and the mysteries of Who We Are, What We Do, and Is That Crocodile Dead? Best filed somewhere between "Twin Peaks" and "The X-files," Jenkin's darkly comic tale keeps us wondering what's lurking just beyond our view. This is interesting country. Look around.
