Embodying Balance - The Shiva Shakti Connection
with Michael and Jo
2:00-5:30 pm
A healthy body, mind and spirit draws on a diverse array of energy and experience in order to navigate life. However, we all know that too often we find ourselves operating from the same old set of rigid beliefs and patterns of movement that keep up us stuck in our own samsara. Cultivating balance and equanimity through movement and breath work starts to re-teach us, from the inside out, how to counter our habits and become more in-sync with the flow of life and the balance of the Shiva Shakti within. That Shiva Shakti connection is the light and dark, the Yin/Yang, the Male/Female. When in unison, we feel whole and connected to the source of all that is. Too often, though, that place just can't be found.
In this workshop, join the symbiotic and balanced dynamic of Michael Faith and Jo Horn as they guide you through ideas of balance as both a principle and benefit of yoga practice. This workshop will focus on flowing creative vinyasa sequences that seek to embody balance through movement. We will also offer a detailed discussion to enliven the mind with concepts of balance: equanimity, serenity, joyfulness and a mindful presence, on and off the mat. Class work will include pranayama, standing balances, basic arm balance s, inversions and meditation.
Some basic yoga experience is necessary (please no inexperienced beginners).
$35 early registration, $40 day of workshop.
