The Market Street Singers, a community choir for Ballard, will present their first fully-staged concert ?Shilshole on the Pacific Rim? on Saturday, March 11, at 7:30pm. This free concert will be at the Nordic Heritage Museum, 3014 NW 67th Street, and is funded in part by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the City of Seattle, Department of Neighborhoods.
?Shilshole on the Pacific Rim? is inspired by the awareness of Ballard?s close connections to the larger world of Pacific nations. The choir will present exciting music from far away places such as Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Japan, Ecuador, and Peru. They will also sing of lands closer to home with selections by Northwest Native Americans, local composers, and even a song by The Beach Boys. Featured guest artists include tenor Brandon Higa, woodwind ensemble Trio Vivo, and didgeridoo master Brian Pertl.
