Taiko is simply the Japanese word for "big drum." Generally, it is used to refer to all drums used in classical Japanese music, whether big or small. Today, Taiko is known as a Japanese/Japanese American cultural presence in United States (and especially California). Most taiko groups in the US practice Kumi-daiko or "group drumming".
Shidara, a renowned taiko group in Japan, will make its first professional tour debut in Little Tokyo on August 24th, 2006. They are committed to the preservation of traditional japanese customs and traditions such as dance and music.
