Fresh off his “Most Engaging Author” win from the 2009 Indies Choice Book Awards, Seattle favorite Sherman Alexie returns to Town Hall with a new collection of stories, War Dances. Heartbreaking and hilarious, the stories explore the precarious balance between self-preservation and responsibility through the tales of ordinary men on the brink of exceptional change. It’s been a rather exceptional spell for Alexie as well, with the recent release of Face, his first poetry collection in nine years, and the paperback release of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, his 2007 National Book Award-winning young-adult debut. The New York Times Book Review has called Alexie “one of the major lyric voices of our time,” and his public appearances are always irreverent, passionate, and, like the award says, engaging.
