Shepard Fairey Opening Reception April 1, 2006

Shep Fairey, internationally famous for his OBEY GIANT street posters and iconography, will be in town for the opening reception of an exhibition of his more complex work.

"A lot of people know me for posters, but I've been working on more complex mixed-media pieces," Fairey said. "I'm still about bold iconic images -- there's just more sophisticated hand-stenciled, collage work."

Fairey, arguably the most well known street artist, has created a number of bold anti-war pieces that evoke the style of Soviet & US Cold War propoganda. "Ring of Fire", "Hight Time" and "Iraq" are three of the pieces that will be on display at the White Walls Gallery.
